Congratulations to the artful Brandon Martignago who placed in the top three at the Australian Coupe contest run by our friends at Dulcies Kings Cross. Brandon’s winning cocktail using Big River Dry Gin was 'On the Rocks', created by Ben McCarthy from Canberra's High Jinks Bar on Edinburgh Ave in Civic.
After many requests, Big River has taken the plunge this year and is making a Shiraz Gin. Shiraz grapes have been sourced from Wallaroo Wines, near Hall ACT, a vineyard that Clyde used to manage in his wine days. A late and cool year gave the grapes plenty of time to build a distinctive flavour profile that integrates perfectly with a specifically designed gin base featuring lemon peel and juniper from Hungary and Macedonia. Our planned release date is in the second half of 2023.
Josh has been visiting venues all across Australia travelling with our valued distribution partners at Mezzanine The Fine Wine Specialist and Red + White. We're not big on spirits competitions as we'd rather our customers assess the quality directly, so we only enter the very best shows - including the London Spirits Competition. Out of the 695 gin entries from around the world, our Mandarin Gin was placed in the top twenty of all spirits and was the second highest rated gin from Australia. A welcome affirmation of what our customers have told us – that Big River Mandarin Gin is remarkable.
